Why Lies Are Destroying Society

Enlightenment of the heart is the threshold of spirituality.
The most important factor in spirituality is the power of belief.
To lie is really bad. Even if it was not a sin, in our society, people do not want others to lie (though they want a free pass to lie at any time). Everybody will tell you, ‘Speak the truth!’ but they don’t want to do it themselves.
Lying is such a dangerous moral poison. When you lie to somebody, you are actually destroying them.
This is because there is no lie that will remain to be hidden forever. One day, it will come to the surface like oil comes to the surface of the water. As soon as that lie comes to light, the other party will find out that you were lying. What will then happen is that they will suffer from the loss of power of belief.
When there are many liars around you who lie day and night, your faith will be lost. When you know that everybody is lying and then, all of the sudden, somebody who speaks the truth bumps into you and tells you the [divine] secrets, you will not believe him.
We live in a very hypocritical world and to deceive has become part of our characters. The result is this habit of lying to each other has brought upon the moral, spiritual and religious decline.
It is easier to believe in a lie than to believe in the truth.
The impact of this mass-scale lying habit is falling on people’s belief systems. When somebody sees so many liars around him or her, they begin to lose the power of belief in everything.
They read the Bible but they do not believe it. They read the Koran, but they do not believe it. Although many will object and say, ‘We believe it,’ the question is, ‘Why aren’t you acting upon it?’
When there is too much lying going on around you, then advice and the divine word become ineffective.
When you are lie, you are committing a sin.
It is anti-social and anti-human behaviour. You are not only degrading yourself, but you are also degrading humanity.
You lie and you become a moral, religious and spiritual criminal. Do you ever ponder: what is the impact of your destructive habit of lying? The impact is falling on people.
The only way to become a truthful person is to get your Spiritual Heart enlightened and synchronised with your tongue. It is not something that you will be able to do just by saying, ‘I will do it.’ This is done through spirituality!
